A hospital is a legitimate target? Either this man is deliberately tempting the patience of Tamils or has gone mad. Does the defense secretary feel civilian Tamils are easily disposable sub humans? The manner in which this offensive is being conducted is unacceptable. They will drive moderate Tamils to tiger camps and create a new generation of youth seeking revenge just as 1983 riots proved to benefit the tigers. Furthermore, if the tigers are forcefully restricting IDP movement for the creation of human shields then this fool is playing into their hands joyfully. He also shamelessly speaks of so-called "safety zones" even though he is well aware that his forces are attacking these areas. This situation is a disgrace to humanity, I painfully realize that if this conflict was taking place in Europe the world would respond with a demand for a ceasefire. My only hope is that Tamils in TN will wake up and pressure India to stop this slaughter of innocents.
Gothabaya has said exactly what a government is doing against its citizens! This is why the tamils wanted to separate out.
We went through the same repeated brutal attacks on the Tamils from the fifties, by the Sinhala governments, when the tamils attempted to peacefully negotiate for a political settlement. It was as result of this that the LTTE was formed.
What does the Rajapakses want now - precisely the same - kill and kill and decimate the Tamils completely. That is their religion and believe of democracy.
In a way Gotabaya is very refrehing...totalling honest to the point of idiocy. He's even providing evidence to the prosecution for his "intent to genocide" trial in the US.
He is also the Sinhala equivalent of Prabhakarn - unelected, totally committed to a military solution, willing to risk the lives of his troops, does not tolerate any dissent & is uninterested in the views of the international community.
As with VP, you can never claim that you did not know what he was planning!
They do say you always become what you hate most.
Ha ha two sinhala brains wearing tamil dress trying to fool international community. I thought normally they fool themselves, now they think other fools exist in this world.
Use a brute to dispose of a brute. Thats the view of many Sinhalese in Colombo. But what happens afterwards? Lets wait and see.
Are there analogies with Stalin defeating Hitler and then marching his own countrymen off to the Gulag aftewards?
Is there a similarity among rulers with mustachios?
Hitler, Stalin, Pinochet, MR, GR...
What baffles me is how did an idiot like GR outsmart Prabakaran?
If I was as sinister and duplicitous as he I would have answered the question by denying vehemently that our forces attacked the hospital and swear on my mother's soul that Hospitals and places of worship sacrosanct and would be spared. But this man has no shame in admiting he will kill anyone who wont fall in line.
