Mahinda as "Maharajaneni": constant lickers and variable arses
by S.L. Gunasekara
Servility and self serving sycophancy are not unknown to poor Sri Lanka: on the contrary, the Country, most regrettably, abounds with it.
However, never till now have we had the misfortune to witness the horrible spectacle of a pack of sniveling sycophants in political office of various types with unconcealed ambitions to climb higher on the basis of nothing more noble than their ignoble sycophancy, heaping mortal and unforgivable insults on the person of the Head of State while believing those insults to constitute fulsome praise which would so please the Head of State that they would result in his granting them some patronage or benefit whether political or otherwise !!! Such is the abysmally low opinion these scum have of the Head of State.

[A giant figure of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa stands on a street in Colombo-AP pic]
As the reader must necessarily have realized, I refer to the plethora of posters, banners and bill boards that pollute the highways of our land addressing and/or describing President Mahinda Rajapakse as "Great King" or "King" ["MAHARAJANENI" or "RAJUNI"] with the wholly unlovely pictures and/or names of the authors of those foul insults prominently displayed with a view to "earning" a reward for heaping insults on President Mahinda Rajapakse in the moronic belief that they were compliments.
By addressing/describing President Mahinda Rajapakse as such, these self serving imbeciles degrade him by relegating him to the level of a hereditary monarch like Queen Elizabeth II who secured `employment’ as Head of State of her Country not because of any merit or competence possessed by her, or being selected by the populace from among other contenders for the `job’, but purely and solely because her father who had that `job’ before her was unable to procreate any male children, and she was the elder of his only two daughters !!
President Mahinda Rajapakse did not ascend to his `job’ through any such outrageous system of institutionalized nepotism/family bandysm but through merit, in that he was selected for the `job’ of Head of State by the populace from among several contenders for that `job’.
Apart from insulting President Mahinda Rajapakse by so equating him to somebody like Queen Elizabeth who secured her employment on the sole basis of the fortuitous circumstance of her birth with which she had nothing to do other than to be born, these malodorous self seekers have also insulted him by the readily discernible unspoken premise on which their outrageous conduct is based: namely, that they believe that President Mahinda Rajapakse is so dishonourable a person that he would be so delighted by such insults heaped on him by idiot sycophants in the unbelievably stupid belief that they constituted praise, that he would actually reward them for their foul conduct !!!
It would serve President Mahinda Rajapakse well, particularly in these wholly unsavoury circumstances, to pay heed to the sagacious words attributed to former Prime Minister Sir John Kotelawela, who, upon being informed by one of his genuinely loyal supporters just after his ignominous defeat in 1956, that many of his erstwhile `loyalists’ were `queuing up’ in Rosmead Place to curry favour with the victorious Prime Minister designate Bandaranaike, is alleged to have said:
"ISAY, LICKERS NEVER CHANGE; ONLY THE ARSES DO"
This, I do believe, is a lesson that both former President Kumaratunga and former Chief Justice Silva [among so very many others] have learnt: albeit too late.

Mahinda Rajapakse did not come through to power through legal means, but by bribing the so-called "Enemy of the State.", during wartime. In other countries, this is called treason and the punishment is death or lifetime incarceration. This man Mahinda Rajapakse willingly gave millions of rupees to the LTTE, so that the latter would enforce an election boycott. It is true that he played an instrumental role in the defeat of the LTTE. However, it is on his orders that 300,000 Tamils are today being incarcerated as collective punishment for the simple crime of having lived in LTTE controlled areas. Dare I ask, which of the two is the greater sin - paying off the LTTE or living under them... if Rajapakse had a conscience, he would answer truthfully rather than hide behind his Sinhala nationalist allies.
"...in that he was selected for the `job’ of Head of State by the populace" ????
Chuckle, chuckle...
Not quite. 'eh?
I think we all know that too well that Mahinda Rajapaksa was selected for the job by the LTTE.
Does Mr Gunasekera(m) forget the LTTE enforced boycott of the Presidential Elections that ensured there could only be ONE contender for that job??
Does Mr Gunasekera(m) also doubt that Rajapaksa does and would continue to reward his "sniveling sycophants"?
Does Mr Gunasekera(m) agree that the word "ARSE" seems to lose its vulgar sheen when it is used by anglophiles like Sir John Kotelawela and certain others to describe lesser mortals?
Servilty is taught to Sri Lankans at a very early age. It is disgusting to observe our young children diving and prostrating themselves before every Tom, Dick and Harry who attends school functions to distribute prizes etc. No wonder they vote these rogues into office later in life.
Although we gained independence for the British 60 years ago we have still to shed our servile attitudes. We hardly know what Liberty and Freedom means; otherwise how is it that some donkeys where proposing to do away with Presidential Elections. Also the continued detention of 300,000 citzens is of no concern to most of us. This is supposed to be a country with a 95% literacy rate.
The democratic process of elections in any country should be free and fair, and the voters should be given the freedom to listen to the views of political parties. Honesty in casting ballots and counting them are important ingredients of democracy.
African dictators manipulate "elections" to grab power, impress the West to get recognition and receive financial support.
Sri Lanka(SL) is a new "African country" in Asia. It impressed the West with fake elections in the East. And now, it is venturing to do the same in the North, inspite of about 60 percent of the South, expressing their opinion in survey that it would be too early for the voters to express independent political views. Soldiers in plenty, carrying AK47, escorting ruling party camapigners, are already causing fear.
The Government of Sri Lanka(GOSL) has appointed a criminal soldier as the governor of the North. He disappeared hundreds of Tamil civilians in the North, yet there is not a single legal charge against him in any court of law. He is sure to be brought to the War Crimes Court in the Hague soon. Now, he is in charge of the election.
Also, about 60 Sinhala government officials have been imported into the North to conduct elections, although there are thousands of Tamil government officials in the election area. The obvious intent of the GOSL is to defraud elections and announce manipulated results.
The hidden intent could be even to replace genuine ballot boxes with fake ones as done in African countries. Pre-determined election results as in Iranian presidential election may be forthcoming. Surely, honesty as a plumb line will be missing.
A big Mafia-style election poster by the ruling party in Jaffna Displays the portraits of Mahinda Rajapakse and a leader of a para-military group. Both have blood in their hands. The poster reads "our president...our country".
During the last presidential election none of the Tamils voted for Rajapakse. So, he is not "our president" for the people of North. The North is not "his country". The de facto state of Tamil Eelam(TE) existed for the past 22 years as a "country" and Tamils are asking for its independence.
Tamils cherish and practice democracy. They believe in democratic protests and traditions. But, the Sinhalese have a legacy of abusing it for the past 60 years. The ruling party is wired up well for the abuse.
Tamil voters are being abused to believe that financial crumbs thrown to them, development and transport to the South are replacements for TE.
The GOSL is hoping to fish its way that way and cheat the West, receive a pat on the back and get financial assistance. It appears that the IMF has already swallowed the bait!
Devolution of power, the most vital issue, is not being addressed by the ruling alliance. Rajapakse promised during his last presidential election that he would solve the North East problem within six months. During the war, he said that he would solve it immediately after the war and now he says the "solution" will come after his next presidential election.
Tamils know that it will not come even then. It is a 60 year old scam and will continue unless there is intervention by the UN and the International Community based on the UN conventions.
My Dear S.L,
Thank you for pointing out that those who wish to elevate me from Athi Garu to Devayan Vahansa are in fact only denigrating my good name by comparing me to a harmless, powerless, toothless constitutional monarch like Queen Liz II.
Do I need to remind them yet again of my recent victories in the battlefield? Would they not agree that a comparison with Genghis Khan or Ivan the Terrible would have been all the more apt given my glorious fabulousness in the realm of warfare?
Deep down in my heart I have always had a very special place for you and I have always considered you my only true and most trustworthy SYCOPHANT. I agree, all these people singing my praise today (with true convition I must add) are mere nobodys, false sycophants.. as you most correctly point out.
Your beloved sovereign.
Mahinda Rajapassa
"... A giant figure of Sri Lankan President stands on a street..."
Like Saddam Hussein or VP, normally one man show never last too long right?
Today's hot news in Sri Lanka papers the President of the Country (the almighty) has pardon the runaway solders from prison as a good gesture connected with the exposure of Buddha's tooth in Kandy. Well done President for letting them go, but you don’t realize that there will be more kidnappings and killings on the streets of Colombo by this bunch of criminals who will have to survive to as they can not find jobs for their survival. What about the innocent Tamil people who are still suffering in your open prison camps in Wanni? Nobody cares about them. When are you going to set them free to live as free men and women in their own native land. What wrong did they do to anyone for that sake. Only reason is, they have lived with Tigers during the war. Where is your justice and fair play. You do everything for your personal glory and popularity and not for the love of anybody.
Dear MR S.L. Gunasekara
Well spotted. Sri lanka is full of arse lickers. LTTE chief had his army of arse lickers who led to his downfall. Mahinda and clan have their arse lickers and they will lead to their downfall. But you praise for Mahinda as an honourable person who was selected to the office on Merit is bit OTT. He cheated, riged and used (still uses) violence particularly against critical media persons to come to and later stay in power.
Dirty deals with Pirapaharan to rob tamils vote!!!.
One wonders whether you are one of the arse lickers of the lovely nation. If so which arse you are frantically licking now.
Selvan
Dear SL Sir:
If the 300,000 people who are behind the fence today had been allowed to vote in the last presidential election, they would not be standing behind the fence and Mahinda would not be standing in the highway like a great king. You call this merit.
If Mrs. B had not changed the rules of admission to the Law College in order to admit Mahinda, he would not have been qualified to enter law college in Sri Lanka. You call this merit.
In the west, they call it manipulation!
SLG, Christian-born leading light of the Buddhist Sinhala cabal – no less the shameless JHU - is a crafty master of the use of the English Language. Above average lawyer, son of a SC Judge and of the Cbo elite, he does not to be a licker of the variety he violently attacks here. Agreed –
what we see around Colombo is an absolute disgrace and most of the cut-outs are the works of kudu karayas, kassippu kings, extortionists, gangsters and the like whose Godfather is unowho. MR himself has come out of this in general terms but avoids mentioning the attack canine.
Why does not SLG address a missive to MR – and copy it to the Press - asking him to publicly disassociate himself with this disgrace? Why does’nt he throw the “Doctor” to the dog-house; banish him from Temple Trees and order him to stay a minimum of a mile from him. MR can surely win much of the people with him if he gets this scum out of the political scene - a..s.e and all..
ISS
SLG should now re-write his claims having now read these comments -100% against his opinion. He is I
suppose one of the "104 Presedintial Consultants"
waiting in line for the next Campaign Train.
MR obviously loves being portrayed as a Great King.
Else, he would have ordered these cutouts removed and admonished the bootlickers a.k.a arselickers to desist from embarassing him. Great leaders are deviod of personal vanity, but MR has plenty of it.The 'lickers' of both types know this, and expect favours in return.
The Queen only reigns, but does not rule. She is powerful and is revered as a symbol of justice and good governance, and not only because of her heredity. The Monarchy is most powerful, only because it denies power to those who would misuse it.
If sri lanka had remained a dominion, all the injustice heaped on ALL citizens by successive politicians,on their paths to power, would not have happened. The british syetem of governance evolved over centuries and is now near perfect - there is no completely perfect system of governance anywhere yet. My professor in UK said "We treated our serfs worse than we treated our colonials". But they realised their faults and corrected them. But lankan politicians - so far there are no statesmen - not even MR - have done so.
SLG should not insult the Queen by comparing her with MR.
A very true comment by SLG.
Contrary to what most believe it was the British who gained independence from us in 1948.
We South Asians have absolutely no idea about even the concept of freedom.
You cannot obtain freedom by BEGGING as we did. If we are being subjugated by the British and being harasses and enslaved, the ONLY WAY TO get honorable and respectable freedom was to militarily defeat them.
The fact that we could not do that does not make what we obtained in 1948 REAL FREEDOM.
In spite of strong criticism of his conduct and condemnation of his barbarian behaviour in public nationally, Mervyn – the attack canine - is allowed to run loose with such impunity. Even the scared media releases the story of how last week the man personally chaperoned notorious gangster Kudu Lal via the VIP lounge at Katunayake. He personally crossed the tarmac to safely deposit his mafiosi pal in the plane. This whole sordid episode smacks of several offences and collusion of officials in the misuse of state property and protocol. But who cares in a land often described as a Failed Society. These are indeed the signs of one. Governance has gone to the dogs under the Chintanaya. In a televised interview the man claims he has done nothing against the media, pleads innocence to the violent attacks on the Chairman of the Kelaniya P.S; denies he publicly confessed to being involved in the killing of Lasantha and Poddala Jayantha. Has he got cold feet after the boru brouha earlier in public? Now he declares war on Sirisa claiming the channel is only carrying out "boru prakashaya." We remember earlier the big man used pressure on him about his wild rantings against Sirisa – such as the communally inflammatory cry asking for the Maharajah Bros to go back to Jaffna. Then Merv tamely
claimed “Killi Mahathaya is my friend. The Maharajah Bros are my good friends” What a strange and unpredictable animal, this is. But there is a bigger question and equally bigger fear among the people. There is a so-called “campaign to wipe out the under-world” and many notorious gangsters have been killed execution-style in cold blood. Of course, almost all of them
“for trying to throw grenades at the Army/Police accompanying them” or “while trying to escape.” The loud-mouthed IGP Wickramaratne admits “the Defence Secy/the Brothers” have asked him to wipe out the gangland menace. If it is really for this purpose, a large number of the population will welcome this. Particularly those living in places like Dematagoda, Maradana, Kotahena, Mattakkuliya, Kolonnanwa, Wellampitiya, Dehiwala – all in the Colombo city or adjacent areas where the local mafia chiefs (with open support of the government politicians and often with the local police terrorized the people and made normal life impossible for them. The growing ranks of kudu-importer/distributors, contract-killers, kassippu kings, kidnappers, those running houses of ill-fame et al are now divided into two camps. That lead by the attack canine and Kudu Lal are making efforts to wipe out the rest to become the “sole monopoly” in the Land of the Pure with the support of Brothers Inc who are believed to be part of the take (Why else should they risk their name and position to be openly seen and supporting this thick-skinned dubious Doctor?) This considered with the void created by the elimination of the drug-running operations of the LTTE to fill which there is both a local and regional clamour makes interesting reading. We are not talking small change here. We are talking Billions of dollars where the Al Qaeda and the Taliban are also contenders. So this is clearly Big League stuff. This explains why the VIP doors of the State-run Katunanayake airport was ordered wide open to a known killer-drug runner on whose behalf the good doctor threatened the media to stop calling him “Kudu Lal” but to refer to him as a “Honourable Provincial Councillor” Now the interesting question is are the Brothers Inc – technically elected to power by a popular ballot – now in the drug business and that of running a crime empire as well? If not, why do they not forthwith rid of the dirt around them that is bringing such adverse publicity to them, the government and to the country. It is time for some of the literate “advisors” in the palace to remind the Maharajajeni that the creator of Bangladesh – Sheik Mujibur Rahman – at the very height of his popular liberation, came to grief all because he took the side of the enormously-wealthy local smugglers empire against those who were partners in the liberation struggle or so they claimed?
Banglesh Press openly confirmed the Sheikh was hand in glove with the underworld there. The international community too is keeping careful track of records of the strange happenings here – just in case the War Crime thing takes centre stage at some point in the future. That can't be good news for the oligarchy who are paranoid about this frightful thought- becaue the first thing to go will be the Green Cards and right to swagger in Uncle Sam's backyard.

It is reported that the president has cancelled his visit to New York to address the UN general assembly sessions with an entourage of 80 as the US has said it may not issue visas to all of them.He should at least even now get rid of undesirables in his administration. But this may be impossible as known human rights violaters and criminals are in the hirearchy of power. The only solution is to dissolve parliament and hold free and fair elections. But this too may be impossible as the law enforcers and armed forces are full of his sycophants who will stop at nothing to reelect the same administration, for their own survival. The nation is fast becoming a 'banana republic'of totalitarianism and lawlessness.Even yesterday the STF branch of the police have raided a residence in maligawatte and shot dead three allegged underworld criminals.Surely, with their firepower they could have flushed them out and arrested them. There was also a report of police arresting a 13 year old boy, stripping him and assaulting him - as it they later admitted was due to 'mistaken identity'! In other words, arrest of schoolchildren, stripping them naked and assaulting them is 'normal' police procedure. Will the president call the parents of this boy too, and give a sum of money - instead of ordering the arrest of the policemen and to produce them before a judicial officer?
