Govt must face UN and international community by having Tamil people on its side - Mano Ganesan

Government should face UN and international community taking the Tamil people on its side. Choosing the line of triumphalism based on the victory against LTTE to counter UN censure on accountability will be a political error. It is time to leave the war victory to history and start addressing the political aspirations of the Tamil speaking people. It is the only way to win Tamils to the government side says DPF leader Mano Ganesan. Ganesan said further in the brief statement issued by DPF media office,

Tamil aspiration for political autonomy has been identified as the root cause in the UN report. This is no news to us. We have been campaigning on this line seeking the future for Tamils in an undivided Sri Lanka.

War devastation is one and the post war activity is another. Political solution is the key to new positive post war era. But the efforts amounting to use the war victory to deny political solution is hurting and alienating the Tamil speaking people. Government should now use the talks with TNA to overcome the international censure. It needs agreeing on political autonomy within the undivided Sri Lanka. TNA has already publicly declared that they respect the territorial integrity of the country and seek the political power devolution within the united Sri Lanka. This is the finest hour of opening for the government to carry the Tamil speaking people along with them and face the UN.

Ganesan, Well said. You hit the nail on the right spot. Sinhala Govt. should understand the rights of the Tamils and Muslims.

Mano Ganesan as a born and bred Srilankan patriot, is saying "Govt must face UN and international community by having Tamil people on its side ".
In otherwords he is saying that Russia and China ( as God Fathers of SL regime ) must face UN and International community by having Tamil People on their side.

Wait a minute based on GOSL warning that they will get protection from China and Russia, I am confused because I thought Russia and China are part of UN and IC too, and so are the oppressed or suppressed minority groups all over the world. It looks like the agenda is that the Tamils have to be either purged or assimilated with the majorities of the Asian Countries they belong to for the sake of asymetric Asian Unity.

it does not matter what the government do, we always want to know what happen during the war since the government conduct the war without witness in order to hide crimes against humanity. Only an international inquiry can do the job.

Mano Ganeshan gives a plausible idea.
MR can easily allow Mganeshan's brother to negotiate with the TNA, pretend to agree to implement 13+++ together with another 18-- and bring back Tissa Vitharne together with Mano Ganeshan to have another APC and drag on till TNA Sampanthan goes on a delegation together with Karuna Douglas & co to the UN meet Nambiar and agree to withdraw all allegations, and tell the UN that India will safegaurd the rights of the Tamils and come back and continue to participate in the All Tamil and Sinhala Party Conferences and Tissa and Mano can continue to give reports to the media, till the UN forgets about this rights allegations. It would be easy to get Sajith and RGSenanayake also to send on a deputation to persuade the TNA to agree.
What an advice to MR.
MR should make Mano a President's Advisor immediately and solve all his problems.

It is not only nothern tamils who live in sri-lanka. There are many other people living in sri-lanka (who form almost 92% per cent of the population taken together and who are NOT demanding further political solutions)and all those people dont want to go beyond the 13th amendment to the constitution as the political solution but however are happy with the 13th amendment as the political solution or are totally not bothered to go beyond the 13th amendment as the political solution.

The solution to this problem was suggested in 1987 as the 13th amendment to the constitution and in 1988 16th amendment to the constitution. Now twenty years have gone by since then. This is the political solution. The vast majority of sri-lankan people are not ready to come up with this or that new 'solution' according the whims and fancies of the TNA or any other entity.

Therefore accept reality and accept the 13th amendment and the 16th amendment and work with it and work with the rest of sri-lanka and live and let live this is what I should tell the TNA live and let live.

Mahinda Rajapakse has explicitly stated that federalism is not even up for consideration. This was well before the military defeat of the LTTE. On the other hand, groups like the JVP, JHU, and NFF are strongly opposed to even the 13th Amendment. To summarize, given the wide spectrum of options where devolution is considered, Sinhalese nationalism is opposed to each and every one! Perhaps Ganesan should suggest a remedy for the latter, as its the central problem here.
